Runners are being warned to take things easier this week as they prepare for the second Brighton Marathon.

With just six days to go before the big day on Sunday, the final touches are being put together by marathon organisers and excitement is building.

Physiotherapist Dawn Leibe, from Body Rehab Studios in Hove, has been busy dealing with runners suffering from numerous aches, pains and injuries over the past month.

She said: “What we generally say at this stage is that if you have done the miles and you are now feeling there is a bit of a problem, then it is probably better to rest rather than trying to force the issue.

“If you've put the effort in, then the most important thing now is to focus on being able to turn up on the day and finish the race.

“If you are doing any short training runs this week then use them as tests for things like the kit you are planning to wear."
