Police searching for a missing man in woodland near his home have found a body.
The discovery was made today in Hassocks, near where John Waterfall's bike was found on Thursday night.
The retired pilot's family had appealed for information after he failed to turn up for an appointment in Brighton. It is thought he had his insulin with him.
Sussex Police said they were not treating the matter as suspicious.
Inspector Marcus Potter said: "An investigation is in its very early stages and police inquiries will continue."
Mr Waterfall's family has been informed that a body has been found but formal identification has yet to take place.
The West Sussex Coroner has been informed.
