An Easter Passion Play about the death of Jesus Christ has been branded “tasteless and bloodthirsty” by a humanist group.
It is the first time a Passion Play has been performed in Brighton and 120 volunteers from the local community will take part in it.
However Brighton and Hove Humanist Society has criticised organisers for performing it on Brighton seafront.
The free event, which will tell the story of Jesus' life and his last days on Earth, will take place near the West Pier on Sunday from 4pm to 7pm.
It is expected to attract crowds of up to 5,000 people.
