Sussex County Cricket Club is to honour its past and present heroes with a walk of fame.

The club has announced that as part of its county ground development, commemorative paving stones will be laid marking past and present heroes at the club.

A stone for every player who has represented the county will be laid and fans will get the chance to have their name inscribed alongside their favourite players.

For a minimum donation of £100 to Sussex Cricket in the Community Trust, fans can personalise the stone of their Sussex hero.

Stones will be laid for the 701 first class cricketers who have represented the county while the club have capacity for 850 stones.

Already a dozen fans have snapped up the granite stones which measure 300mm by 300mm.

The first stones should be laid by August but the club hopes to have annual laying ceremonies when more stones are bought.

The stones will be similar in appearance to the heritage stones laid around the American Express Community Stadium and are made by the same company, Uckfield-based Parker Building Supplies.

Leaflets are in the post now telling fans about the opportunity to buy the stones which will be laid outside the newly developed South West stand containing the club shop and reception.
