A man who tried to dispose of his rubbish by dousing it in petrol and setting it alight has been rushed to hospital.
The 55-year-old was admitted with burns to his legs after the incident in his garden on Wilfrid Road, Hove.
Emergency services were called to the address at 12.24pm. The man is now recovering in hospital.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “Burning rubbish with petrol is an extremely bad idea, especially in hot weather and in shorts. People should be extremely careful with flammables and ensure they are stored correctly.”
