Two men were hospitalised after an incident outside an Indian restaurant.

Seven men were arrested after police were called to the Spice Garden restaurant in Church Street, Eastbourne shortly before 2.30am on Friday.

Residents heard shouting and a 'large disturbance' outside the restaurant before police arrived.

One of the victims had a suspected fractured skull and rib injuries and the second man also suffered cuts to his head.

Officers from Eastbourne CID, who are leading the investigation, are nowappealing for help to piece together the series of events.

Speaking about the incident, Detective Sergeant Dave Tye said: “We were called after reports of a large disturbance.

“We are trying to ascertain what led up to the incident.”

Seven men were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and attempted burglary.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the two victims, both in their 30s, were taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital.
