Kate and William could be expecting twins, The Argus can reveal.
But the announcement, which bypassed Palace officials, will not send shock waves through the Royal Family.
The happy couple, a pair of Pacific White Spotted Bamboo sharks newly arrived at Brighton’s Sea Life Centre, have already produced eggs.
Aquarist Jennifer Smith said: “We fished the eggs from the tank and have moved them to special behind-the-scenes nursery tank.
“We have no idea whether or not they are fertile yet but we won’t have long to wait.
“The eggs only take about 15 weeks to hatch, and we would be able to see the embryo moving inside after just three or four weeks.”
