I CANreassure Douglas Wooding that changed times of late evening buses from Lewes to Brighton are definitely not the “thin end of the wedge”

he fears (Letters, April 27).

We’re improving late evening departures to many areas with each timetable change.

This summer there are both more and later departures from Tunbridge Wells and Uckfield, and also to Peacehaven, Newhaven and Seaford.

There are also later buses in many areas of Brighton and Hove, including Moulsecoomb, Whitehawk and Hangleton, and a newnight bus from Eastbourne.

There are also extra journeys during the morning peak time serving Portslade, Mile Oak, Westdene, Kemp Town, Whitehawk, Rottingdean and Woodingdean, and extra evening journeys have been introduced in Ditchling Road, Hollingbury, Patcham and Hollingdean.

This contrasts with many areas of the country where the news is full of cuts to bus routes.
