The boss of Brighton Festival Fringe has insisted its future is strong despite the departure of its director.
Heather James, currently chair of the board of Brighton Festival Fringe, will take over as interim director next week.
The appointment, which is for three months, follows the resignation of Michael Bedingfield after fewer than three months in the job.
Ms James said that she was thrilled to be in the driving seat of the third largest fringe arts festival in the world.
The board will begin the search for a new director this summer.
