The new mayor of Brighton and Hove has spoken of her delight after being elected into the role.
Moulsecoomb and Bevendean councillor Anne Meadows was congratulated by past mayors, alderman and city councillors in a ceremony at Hove Town Hall last night.
The Labour member will be the city’s Mayor for the next twelve months and has chosen the Sussex Beacon, Brighton & Hove Federation of Disabled and the PDSA as her Mayoral Charities for her year in office.
Coun Meadows said: “It is such a privilege to be elected as Mayor and an absolute honour to serve the city I love in such a special way.
Outgoing mayor Geoff Wells will become deputy mayor for the forthcoming year.
