Thousands of bees swarmed at a nature reserve.
Beekeeper Amanda Millar from Hurstpierpoint was called by Sussex Wildlife Trust after 15,000 honey bees swarmed at the entrance to the reserve at Woods Hill in Henfield.
The Trust said the bees had separated from their main colony.
The air was said to be thick with bees for about 30 minutes before the Queen settled on a branch whilst the swarmwaited for worker bees to find a new home.
Ms Millar, secretary of Brighton and Lewes Beekeepers’ Association, removed the swarm on Tuesday and put it in a spare hive in her garden until a new home can be found.
