Household rubbish which had been dumped in a skip caught alight.
The rubbish had been dropped in a skip in Southdown Road, Portslade, at 11am.
A fire crew from Hove station attended and put out the blaze.
At 9.55am yesterday in Busticle Lane, Sompting, crews from Worthing attended an out-of-control bonfire.
A firefighter said: “Rubbish which being burnt got caught in the wind and blew away.”
A chimney fire broke out in Kings Drive, Eastbourne, at 1pm yesterday.
