A man has been arrested after a woman died in a house fire.
The 42-year-old victim was on the first floor of a four-storey terrace building in Sackville Road, Bexhill at around 12.15am this morning when the fire broke out.
A 40-year-old man managed to leave the property and was taken into hospital for treatment.
He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is under scene guard at hospital.
Eight firefighters using breathing apparatus managed to rescue the woman from the building but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the causes of the blaze is now being carried out.
