A television appeal is being launched to help solve a betting shop robbery.

Sussex Police are using tonight’s (Tues) BBC Crimewatch programme to try to trace a gang who robbed a William Hill in Littlehampton in February.

Two men threatened a woman worker with a knife, then returned half an hour later and stole about £180 from a gaming machine at the shop in Wick Parade.

The 23-year-old shop assistant was described as shaken but unhurt after the raid, which took place shortly before 7pm on Monday, February 14.

The knifeman was mixed race, between 21 and 25, about 5ft 5in, very skinny, wearing a black coat, black jeans and a large beanie hat with a T-shirt under his coat.

The second man was white, similar age, about 6ft and medium build. He wore a blue beanie hat with pattern, thick fat glasses, light blue jeans and a coat.

They were seen getting into a black saloon car, believed to be a Vauxhall Corsa, which already contained two men.

Detective Constable Yahya Aslam, of West Sussex CID, said: "It has now been more than three months since the robbery but we are still making active enquiries and I am still sure someone out there will be able to give us useful information about this pair."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999, quoting serial 1431 of February 14, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
