The Argus: fringe_2011_logo_red_thumbYou could argue that this show should be renamed Annabel Giles Talks Too Fast as the words tumbled, almost two at a time, from her lips.

The posh and pretty personage took you on a rollercoaster ride through her privileged schooldays, her meteoric modelling career and life as Midge Ure’s wife during Band Aid.

She cantered comically through TV presenter days on Razzmatazz and You Bet before describing light-heartedly how she brought up two children on her own – the second of whom, a son, was born with special needs.

She even managed to keep the laughs going as she recounted how her son’s father – who also happened to be her agent – left when the baby was only two weeks’ old, then tried to destroy her career by telling all her contacts she was no longer seeking work.

Finally, she sparkled her way through tales of her drug and alcohol addiction and her less than lucrative forays into novel-writing.

Annabel is currently on benefits and unsure where, or indeed what, her next job will be.

“I’m terrified of the future but I do know it will be OK,” she concluded, to loud applause.

Somehow, you just know she’ll be proved right.
