Firefighters fought to contain a severe chimney fire.
Crew from Eastbourne Fire Station were called to the blaze in Marsden Road, Eastbourne at just after 7.45pm last night.
Firefighters used an ALP platform and hose reel to tackle the blaze from the roof and specialist chimney firefighting kit from the hearth to put out the blaze.
The station’s watch commander said that smoke and water damage to the property was kept to a minimum and that the female resident in the property was uninjured in the incident.
