Seven men and boys who were seen jumping from a lorry are believed to have entered the country illegally.
Police believe eight people may have been on board the Dutch lorry when it stopped to make a delivery to a farm in Walton Lane, Bosham, near Chichester, at about 11.40am today.
Two boys aged 15, and two aged 16 and 17, as well as two 21-year-old men and a 29-year-old man, all of Middle Eastern origin but from a variety of countries, were arrested on suspicion of entering the country illegally.
Police are continuing to search the area for the eighth person.
They were taken into custody and will be handed over to the immigration authority.
