Police are warning Woodingdean residents to beware of strangers at the door after a bogus gas official got into the home of an elderly resident earlier this week.
The man told the lady that there had been a gas explosion at the bottom of Cowley Drive and he wanted to see if her water had been contaminated. She let the man into her home to look at the water supply in her kitchen and bathroom. Whilst she took the man upstairs an accomplice came in and searched through her draws and cupboards. It is believed nothing was taken but police said residents should be wary of letting anyone into their property without proper identification.
