An MP has condemned recent “callous” attacks on a Jewish cemetery.
The Argus reported this week that the cemetery in Meadow View, Brighton, is to close its gates early each day because of a string of attacks from young vandals.
Hydrochloric acid was poured on the paths of the cemetery in the latest attack.
Mike Weatherley, MP for Hove and Portslade, said: “The Jewish Community is understandably shaken by the recent attacks on their sacred burial ground. The perpetrators of these actions will hopefully be found and face the full force of the law. Anti-Semitic remarks and rhetoric are inexcusable alone, but when this is combined with criminal damage it is particularly distressing.”
He called on anyone with information to contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
