Hanover author, Margaret has written her last book of poetry and short stories, called 'My Fourpenny Jesus'. Margaret left school when she was 12, after the loss of her father and the bombing of her school. Soon after, at 17, she also left her home in Walthamstow, and after living in and around the South, she came to Brighton.

When talking about her childhood Margaret says, "If I had a pen and paper I was happy" and adds that all her writing skills come from a correspondance course in grammar and her own drive to learn.

She has written poetry, prose and biographical pieces all of her life. Her book reads like a hopeful personal diary and her life seems equally blessed and troubled.

After 15 years of caring for her husband, who suffered from Parkinsons Disease, she was left alone when he passed away in 2000.

But Magaret says, "I have some lovely neighbours and friends. I have lovely people around me." and doesn't let her arthritis get in the way of her visiting and writing. She started sending her material to authors when she was only 14 years old and is hoping that those who read the book will be 'helped' by its message.

This is her second book and is a beautiful example of the way life in England used to be. Brighton should be proud to have such a talented, self-taught author with such touching life experiences to share.
