Save our NHS.

That was the message from protesters who marched through Lewes on Saturday.

The march, calling for the NHS to remain publically funded, was organised by Lewes Stop the Cuts and was attended by people of all ages.

Protesters met at The Gallops, off Nevill Road, before marching through the town to Boots.

Organiser Ivan Bonsell, from Lewes, said: “We do not want the NHS to be privatised.

“We do not want cuts and privatisation in the NHS by the Conservatives, although it was the Labour government which started it.”

Fellow campaigner Ken Kink, from Brighton, said: “We want the NHS to remain public and we will fight every step of the way.”

Fran Whittle, of Lewes, said: “I have been using the NHS for years and it is so valued in the community, both in Lewes and across the country.”

Sussex Police officers attended the protest and said it all went smoothly.
