The burning sun caused a fire in a funeral parlour.
Fire crews were called to the Coop funeral store in High Street, Newhaven about 6pm yesterday.
With temperatures outside exceeding 25C, the sun reflected off a picture in the window which acted like a prism.
This caused items including flowers to catch fire and a member of the public called East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service after noticing smoke in the shop window.
Crews spent about an hour at the scene extinguishing the flames.
