This undated picture was taken from the Palace Pier in Brighton looking west. Prominent buildings include the old Savoy cinema (now a casino) and the Palace Pier Hotel.
The former sea bathing headquarters of Brighton Swimming Club can also be seen next to the beach. Eventually they had to be closed because of structural problems but the club relocated in a nearby arch. Further west can be seen the former borough engineer’s offices of the borough council. They were demolished to make way for the Ramada Renaissance Hotel, now called the Thistle.
The picture is from the collection of Sue Osmond who lives in Downsway, Brighton.
