Brighton residents are being watched.

A giant mural of a Buddha with the slogan “Big Buddha is watching you” has been painted on the side of furniture shop Villa and Hut in North Street.

Guy Meredith, one of the partners of the business, said the design was painted to grab people’s attention.

He is now planning on having T-shirts printed bearing the slogan.

He said: “Everybody loves Buddhas. We are quite well known for our Buddhas made out of wood and metal.

“I thought it was time for a repaint to get us noticed.”

The company, which has a warehouse in Portslade, imports furniture from Java and Bali.
