Police have warned residents to keep their windows locked after burglars attacked a pensioner in his own bedroom.
Detectives are hunting the two masked men who crept into the ground floor flat of a 69-year-old man at about 2.30am.
The men, who had snuck in through an open window, punched their victim in the face after demanding money.
They left through the front door of the flat, in Heylers Green, Littlehampton, with £40 in cash and a 32” Samsung TV.
Both men wore dark clothing. One of the masks was a three-hole ski mask, predominantly black but with red and yellow markings.Detective Constable Sarah Thurgood said: "We believe the two men got into a car to leave the scene as the victim heard a car engine immediately outside as they left. “We are seeking witnesses who may have seen a vehicle or people acting suspiciously in the area at the time.
"In the current warm nighttime weather it's naturally difficult to keep all windows and doors closed and locked but we still advise residents to do so wherever reasonably possible, especially on the ground floor."
Anyone with information is asked to call Worthing CID on 0845 6070999, quoting serial 0131 of June 28.
