Two men were beaten up as they slept on a beach.
One needed treatment at a Sussex Eye Hospital after they were kicked in the head near Brighton Fishing Museum in King’s Road Arches today.
He temporarily lost his sight but was said to be recovering later on.
The men, aged 27 and 28 and from London, were set upon at about 2.30am.
Nothing was stolen. Police are trying to trace three people over the attack.
The first was a white man, between 20 and 22, about 6ft and skinny. He wore a baseball cap and a white and blue striped top.
The second man had dark skin, was between 18 and 22, about 5ft 7in and stocky.
There was no description of the third attacker.
Detective Sergeant Cheryl Lewendon, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked attack which saw one of the victims suffer a serious eye injury.
"There were other people on the beach at the time of the assault and we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the attack take place or who can identify the offenders."
