MOST of your readers will have heard of Samaritans and know what we do to support people in emotional distress.

They may also be aware we are invited to talk to school pupils as part of the PSHE or Peer Listeners programme.

What may be less well-known is that we are happy to receive invitations to speak to local community groups and organisations such as the WI and townswomen’s guilds.

We are also happy to provide speakers for more specialised groups, such as trainee social workers or GPs – indeed any group, large or small, consisting of people who might come into contact with those who might benefit from our support.

These talks cover the history of Samaritans, as well as what we do, and can be as short as 20 minutes or longer including questions.

We’re happy to hold talks in the area bounded by Haywards Heath, Henfield, Shoreham, Newhaven and Uckfield.

Any organisation or group that would like a speaker from the Brighton, Hove and District branch of the Samaritans can phone 01273 772277 or write to Samaritans, Dubarry House, Newtown Road, Hove BN3 6AE.
