A father and son seriously injured in a crash yesterday remain in hospital.

The older man, 53, is being treated for multiple injuries at a London hospital. His condition is described as serious but stable.

The 27-year-old was recovered from under the skip lorry and is being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where his condition is critical but stable. He is suffering from serious head injuries.

Both are from Bexhill.

The driver of the skip lorry, a 53-year-old from Hove, suffered minor injuries and has been released from hospital.

Police are still appealing for motorists who may have seen the father and son’s white van breaking down just before it was involved in a collision westbound on the A27 near Hollingbury.

Sergeant Neil Walker said: "We believe the white van was going very slowly or had broken down. It was partially in lane one and on the verge when at around 7.15am it was involved in a collision with a skip lorry.

"Two men in the white van suffered serious injuries. We would like to talk to anyone who saw the van before and at the time of the collision.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Stanway.
