A group of friends raised more than £7,000 for charity when they took part in a sponsored 100 mile walk across the South Downs.

Ditchling Cricket Club members Tim Claringbull and Alastair and Nick Edgell were joined by Alex Verhegge from Belgium for the South Downs Way trek from Eastbourne to Winchester.

All money raised will go to the Help For Heroes charity to support servicemen and women wounded in current conflicts.

Nick Edgell said: “I have lived on or near the South Downs for much of my life and have long wanted to walk the length of the South Downs Way.

“As we all have military experience and had been looking for an opportunity to raise money for Help the Heroes, it seemed sensible to combine these two ambitions.”
