Seven men have been charged over the New Year’s Eve riot at Ford Prison.
The Crown Prosecution Service announced today they have given Sussex Police permission to charge the men, who will appear at Chichester Magistrates on July 29.
During the incident, in the early hours of New Year’s Day at the prison near Arundel, 40 inmates smashed windows and set off fire alarms, eventually sparking a fire.
Roche Allen, Lennie Franklin, Ryan Martin, Thomas Regan, Lee Roberts and Paul Hadcroft have all been charged with arson being reckless as to whether life endangered and violent disorder. Carniel Francis has also been charged with violent disorder.
