A pizza delivery man has been jailed for sexually assaulting a boy.

Muzami Rafique pulled over in his van in Albion Hill, Brighton, and offered a 13-year-old boy a lift to Preston Park.

But instead of dropping him off as agreed, the 24-year-old from Mulberry Close, Brighton, took him to a remote area in the park climbed into the back seat and assaulted him.

Rafique was yesterday found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor and engaging in sexual activity in the boy’s presence, by a jury at Lewes Crown Court.

The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was severely shocked but not physically injured.

He ran off as Rafique got back in the front seat.

Following the guilty verdict, Rafique was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment.

He was also required to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years starting from his release from prison. Detective Constable Karen Woodhams from Sussex Police said: “This was a very nasty attack which left the teenager very traumatised.

It was reported to us the following day and we were able to trace and arrest Rafique within hours as a result of our enquiries. We are very glad to have been able, with the co-operation of the victim, to bring this vicious man to justice.”
