I'm very worried about the confidentiality of my medical records, which doubtless mention a termination I had many years ago. I have heard that everybody's intimate details can now be accessed from any surgery or clinic in the country.
Is this really the case?
The Government does have a scheme to link up the entire population's medical records on one database. Amazingly, no one seems to have asked the great British public whether this is what they want. However, the scheme has run into enormous financial and technical problems amd is unlikely to be implemented for quite a while. In themeantime, I suggest you ask your GP to let you see your records. You may well find that actually no electronic note of your termination was made.
