Having used bus services in various parts of the country, I can say our city offers a bus service which is prompt, clean and operated by (mostly) courteous staff.
Unlike a number of other public transport services, Brighton buses offer a useful facility for mothers with baby buggies and there, as they say, is the rub.
Many young mothers dock their buggy (which takes one seat space), then plop on the adjacent seat.
At certain times of the day, the bus is full and I have seen many elderly people forced to stand, struggling to keep their balance, while gum-chewing, mobile-phone using youngsters ignore the distress and inconvenience caused to our senior citizens and don't have the courtesy to realise their elders deserve a seat to and from town after a hard day's shopping or even hospital visit.
