These budding young musicians have put their talents to good use to raise money for charities both at home and abroad.

Luke Cambridge and his friends, all nine-year-old pupils at The Globe Primary School in Irene Avenue, Lancing, have been performing to packedout audiences with their band Home and Away.

The concerts were held in the conservatory of Luke's home in Leconsfield Road, Lancing.

They are now busy organising their third concert, with help from friend Hannah Shaff, also nine.

Luke, who plays the guitar and piano, came up with the idea after watching a charity advert on the television.

He said: "I saw an advert saying that in Africa there were some children dying from bad water.

"That made me think of the idea. We like playing music and we have raised nearly £200."

The money will be split between local charities and those supporting projects in Africa.

Luke's mother, Patricia Enticknapp, 45, said: "When he saw the advert he said he wanted to do something to help.

"They have worked hard for what they have achieved and I am proud of them."

The pupils perform in their school uniforms as a way of saying thank you to their school, where they get help with their music lessons.
