The bodies of two men were found in woodland and a lake within an hour of each other.

Police were called to woodland, near to the railway line in Westham, Pevensey, near Eastbourne, after the body of a 25-year-old man from Eastbourne was found at 5.15pm yesterday.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a post mortem is expected to be carried out within the next week. The case has been handed over to the East Sussex coroner.

The body of a 23-year-old man, from Eastbourne, was found in a lake in Shinewater Park, Eastbourne, shortly after 6pm yesterday.

The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated but they are not thought to be suspicious.

Inspector Charlie Connaughton, from Eastbourne Neighbourhood Response Team, said: "While the tragic deaths occurred during a similar period they are not being treated as suspicious and no-one is being sought in connection with these incidents."
