Detectives want to speak to the man pictured right in connection with a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl.

The attack happened in the early hours after the 18-year-old victim left Liquid Envy, on Station Way, Crawley, to join her friend and walk to a house in the town where she was due to stay the night.

Her friend was talking to a group outside the club so the girl decided to walk along alone.

It was at that point say police that a man started walking with her.

The attack is believed to have happened at some point along Southgate Avenue between 3am and 6am on Friday, August 11.

Police only yesterday released the CCTV stills of the man taken at the night-club in the hope of identifying him.

He is thought to be aged between 20 and 23 years old, is white, of slim build, with a well kept appearance.

He had dark brown hair which was short and spiked up at the front.

He was clean shaven and was wearing a light-coloured long sleeved shirt with a collar, dark blue denim jeans and brown, square slip-on shoes.

Detective Constable Karina Gill of Sussex Police said: "I am specifically appealing to the man in the CCTV stills to contact me in relation to the inquiry.

"If anyone knows the identity of the man, I would urge them to contact Crawley CID on 0845 60 70 999 quoting reference number NC2/7880/06."

Alternatively anyone with information can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
