Downtempo monkeyman Bonobo has picked up the pace with his third album Days To Come.
The Brighton DJ and producer, aka Simon Green, was discovered by our own Tru Thoughts but is now signed to Ninja Tune, strengthening the already strong relationship between the two labels.
The new album is out on October 2. "The idea with this album was to create something which sounds as if it were recorded in one day in one room. It's actually been hundreds of days in hundreds of rooms," says Bonobo.
One stand-out difference is he has ditched the sampler. "It's been a whole different process this time round, working away from the sampler and getting back to mics and tapes. There's a whole load of vocal tracks too and it's a lot more energetic.
There are moments on it where it's outright abrasive."
Since his first release, Bonobo has covered a generous sprinkling of musical styles and DJs the same way - expect hip-hop, weighty jazz, broken beats, Latin, funk, and soul, with the occasional cheeky bit of psych-rock and drum'n'bass.
- 10pm-4am, from £7. Call 01273 697775. Bonobo will also play a live set at the Concorde 2, Brighton, on October 27.
