Former X Factor contestant Terry Winstanley is planning to release a charity Christmas single.

Mr Winstanley, 51, from Tarring in Worthing, failed to make it through to the live final in the over 25s category.

But rather than be disheartened he has recruited fellow axed contestants including Jade Richards to perform on a single in aid of armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

They hope to release the song Mr Winstanley has written, called Make Love Not War, via iTunes.

He has also released another single through iTunes called I Need Your Love which is currently available for download.

Yesterday Mr Winstanley revealed that a number of former contestants would be performing at the Assembly Hall in Worthing on November 4.

This show will be called The Wow Factor and Make Love Not War will be performed. He said: “I’ve orchestrated this. It’s a huge song and there are going to be some great voices in there.

“I decided to organise it because everyone was texting me after the X Factor and I thought, ‘I can’t handle this. I’ve got to do something’.”

Last night Mr Winstanley attended the Pride of London Awards alongside such guests as Stacey Solomon and Alexandra Burke.
