The death of greengrocer Tony Magdi in a 'cycle rage' attack left hundreds of friends, family and neighbours devastated.
But nearly a year after he died his fruit and vegetable shop will reopen in the same spot.
The owner of a neighbouring business has bought the shop and Mr Magdi’s former employees have taken on a 15-year lease to run it in honour of the much-loved local businessman.
Mr Magdi’s relatives, who took on the food and veg shop after his death in November 2010, did not accept the highest bids for the store.
There were offers made to turn the shop in Portland Road, Hove, into a funeral parlour and a shop selling spare motor parts but these were rejected.
Now Second Seed owner Paul Soden has bought Tony Magdi’s fruit and veg shop and leased it so Tony’s memory can ‘live on’.
He said: “It was going to be a car spares shop but that wasn’t right for the community.
“So it will go back to being Tony’s fruit and veg shop.
“It’s always going to be Tony Magdi’s shop.”
