The Action for Bevendean Community (ABC) held it latest meeting on the 19th September in the Community Church Hall. The Bus company came and gave an update on the buses. They agreed that the buses have had a very bad summer, namely not enough drivers, and the company had to use drivers from other branches of the “GO AHEAD COMPANY.” They even had to go to Gateshead to ask for help, to keep the bus infrastructure going. The Company hoped it would be able to continue to provide buses as per time table as they had trained an large amount of new driver recently.   Other items included, the loss of parking spaces at the bottom of The Avenue, due to a taxi rank and again No public consultation— A petition was lunched by Michelle (BTA) and Mo Marsh Ward Councillor for people to sign and monitor how many Taxi’s use it as a Rank and not just to do their shopping. Some local ladies, want to join together and form a ladies group (WI) for all ages; ABC would be willing to hold any funds they gather and bank for them until they have a constitution and bank account.  Plymouth Avenue Nature area. This was a the green in Plymouth Avenue, the Council decided to leave the green uncut and left untidy, to act an animal haven. After some strong local concern that there was no public consultation, the Council has rescinded  this and have started to cut the grass again.   There was a large amount on the agenda, and it was agreed that the ABC would meet bi-monthly to have less busy agenda, and have more time for each item. Date of the next meeting is the 12th December in the Community Church Hall at 6.30 pm and we will be serving wine and mince pies. Look forward to seeing you there.

 Best wishes.
