Riders and sponsors are needed for the Argus Appeal’s South Downs challenge and cycle ride.

From Winchester to Eastbourne, the challenge takes place next year from May 25 to May 27, with the ride on May 27 from Brighton to Beachy Head.

Argus Appeal organiser Elsa Gillio said: “The Argus Appeal has been supporting our community since 1957.

“We give assistance to those in need throughout our community by providing funds for a variety of benefits and causes, in particular disadvantaged children, the elderly, the vulnerable, people with disabilities, and any other person, group or charity considered by the trustees to be appropriate for a fund allocation which will make a difference.”

In July the Brighton to Paris Bike Ride raised more than £400,000.

To register for the South Downs challenge riders must receive a minimum sponsorship of £150 and pay a £75 fee, which includes an evening meal and overnight camping in Midhurst and Brighton.

Registration for the South Downs ride is £25 with no sponsorship requirement.
