Of course the idea of a school bank is a good one (The Argus, October 10). In fact it’s such a good idea it has been done before.

My two children, now in their mid-20s, had school bank accounts when they were pupils at Denton County Primary School.

The children were encouraged to pay in money each week and even helped stamp up the paying in books – under supervision, of course.

The accounts were administered by Barclays in Newhaven and, when the children left the school, their accounts were automatically converted to regular Junior Saver accounts.
