IN THE story on the Green’s 20-year vision (The Argus, October 6), I was concerned to see that Hollingdean and Stanmer ward, which I represent, was not listed as an area where quotas on multi-occupied houses will be brought in.
Residents and Labour and Co-operative party councillors called for the area to be included earlier this year to help ensure a better balance between family homes and houses under multi-occupation – often by students.
The previous administration of the Brighton and Hove City Council seemed to agree to this request.
At the moment, many houses which could provide homes for local families are being bought-up and rented out as shared accommodation.
Quotas in other parts of the Lewes Road area will just put more pressure on Holling-dean, Coldean and the Bates estate if they are now left out.
Councillor Jeane Lepper, Labour and Co-operative Party, Hollingdean and Stanmer ward
