A SECOND woman has described her horror at biting into a vegetarian meal in McDonald’s and discovering she was eating chicken.
Teacher Emma Goldsmith, 32, from Eastbourne, ordered a vegetarian meal at the town’s branch in Lottbridge Drove on September 24 but was given a chicken meal in a vegetarian wrapper.
She contacted The Argus after reading Karan Franklin, from Patcham, Brighton, had a similar experience in McDonald’s at Brighton Marina.
Ms Goldsmith said she was sick twice after biting into the burger and staff apologised.
She wrote an email of complaint and was sent a letter of apology and a £20 voucher, but has said she will not use it as she does not want to eat McDonald’s ever again.
She said: “I thought it was Quorn at first. I pulled it apart and realised it was chicken. The manager did not know what to do.
“It took head office nearly two weeks to respond to me. I rang them and then had to email them. I have got no intention of dining with them ever again.”
A McDonald’s spokeswoman said: “We are very sorry a customer at one of our restaurants in Eastbourne experienced less than our usual rigorous standards of food quality and service."
The company added it has retrained the restaurant team to make sure it does not happen again.
