Dedicated employees at Marks and Spencer have clocked up more than 1,085 years of service between them.

The 38 staff members at the refurbished store in the Holmbush Centre, Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham, have worked for Marks and Spencer since it first opened its doors 18 years ago.

A further two employees have reached their 40-year milestone and five more are celebrating more than 30 years with the company.

Administration assistant Susan Sullivan joined the Shoreham store when it opened in 1993 and has been with the company since she left school in 1977.

She said: “I feel very proud to say I've been with M&S for 34 years and I have loved every minute.

“M&S has really evolved over the years. I remember taking stock and doing calculations with a notepad and pen when I first started, so it has been very rewarding moving forward with a company that has kept its core values after all this time. I can't imagine working anywhere else.”

Steve James, store manager, said: “We are very lucky at M&S Shoreham to have so many dedicated staff who care deeply about the way we do business and ensure our customers receive first class service.

“We have a huge number of employees who have been here since the store opened 18 years ago – and many more who started their career with the company before that. It’s a fantastic achievement.”
