Two Conservative councillors have quit their party to become independents.
Graham Fabes and Jacqui Marsh, the chairman and vice-chairman of the licensing committee at Worthing Borough Council, will continue to serve as independent members of the council.
Coun Fabes, who represents Offington, said: “This is a purely personal decision.
"I have a lot of respect for what council leader Paul Yallop and the rest of the party have achieved.”
Coun Marsh, who represents Salvington, was unavailable for comment.
The make-up of the council is now 23 Conservatives, 11 Lib Dems and three independents.
