This year’s Brighton Fringe will be more varied and vibrant than ever, organisers have promised.

The programme for the third largest fringe festival in the world is unveiled today at a launch party at The Old Market in Upper Market Street.

Fringe director Julian Caddy said more than 675 events will take place at 191 venues across Brighton and Hove.

Mr Caddy said the 2012 Brighton Fringe would also be welcoming 30 foreign companies, with professional workshops held by Equity, The Stage, New Writing South, Spotlight, Comic Boom and The Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

He said the festival offers a market place for performers to showcase their work and an exciting arena for audiences to discover and participate in new, challenging and captivating cultural experiences.

He said: “The open access nature of Brighton Fringe is in contrast to the curated nature of Brighton Festival and, as such, complements their work perfectly.

The Fringe is inspired by creative chaos, a chaos that leads to a place of discovery, a place where a hidden gem can be found on every street corner, a place where polished jewels sit among rough diamonds.”
