At least eight people were arrested after trouble began ahead of Saturday’s Brighton and Hove Albion clash with Portsmouth.
Two people were arrested as fans came together at Brighton Station and another on suspicion of making homophobic comments.
Superintendent Simon Nelson said on Twitter: “One now in our cells for homophobic comment. No place for it there or anywhere.”
He added others had been told to leave Brighton and Hove but were not arrested.
