How bizarre for a Labour minister at the party conference to attack the present legal framework regarding buses, when it is that very framework which has led to such a good service in Brighton and Hove - which the same minister then went on to praise.
Perhaps the Government ought to look at what has been achieved here by a privately-run, forwardlooking bus company before seeking to give new powers for councils to meddle in the affairs of the travelling public.
- Councillor Brian Oxley, leader of the Conservative Group Brighton and Hove City Council
