I would like to know why the traffic on the A259 South Coast road from Peacehaven to Brighton has now become ridiculous on weekday mornings.

For example, last Monday morning it took me 35 minutes to get from Peacehaven to Rottingdean.

The reason for this was the amount of traffic on the road.

I firmly believe this increase is due to more people not using the buses now fares have increased before 9am.

I strongly feel the bus company is penalising the workers by charging more before 9am. It has also amended the bus times on the 14 route so if you start work at 10am, you need to get the bus before 9am to get to work on time thus having to pay the higher fares.

I do not believe it was forced to increase prices this much and to have two different fares for certain times of day due to the increase in diesel prices.

I also agree all children should pay the same fare, regardless of how many adults are travelling with them.

Also on this point, I know free travel is only after 9am but could a cut-off time not be imposed in the evening as well.

When I have been hard at work all day, I do not wish to have to stand on my journey home due to the large number of free travellers.
